Possibly also known as Mellowstones Quarry. Located by workmen digging an inspection chamber for rainwater drains on Wooley Hill, they broke through into the roof of an underground quarry.
It is recorded that the owner of the Mellowstones bungalow while ploughing ‘The Paddock’ at the rear of his house, he lost his plough and pony when the entrance to the quarry caved in. The driveway to the right of the bungalow led to the quarry entrance.
