Strenic Construction Co.

The Strenic Construction Company based in Pound Mead Corsham on the site of the old gas works made reconstitued stone blocks from the quarry waste which was found in abundance around the area. Stone waste was piled high near many quarry entrances considered to be uneconomical to transport and use other than for local rubble walling, however the existing tramways leading down to Corsham station yard made transporting the stone here for processing economical. Strenic’s also used Tunnel Quarry at some point – probably for quarrying block stone rather than waste.
