Seven Shaft Quarry

Seven Shaft Quarry originally quarried by Randell and Saunders was also called Yockney and Hartham Park Stone Co. Corsham Down Quarry and Pockeredge Quarry. It had slope shafts, travelling and surface cranes and was located near No.7 shaft of Box Tunnel hence it’s name. It was opened in 1845 and quarrying here ceased at the same time as Hudswell Quarry in 1914. All of the quarries in the vicinity eventually ran into each other and became collectively known as Tunnel Quarry
