Sands Quarry adjoins the south of Spring Quarry with a slope shaft exiting at the most southerly point of this complex. This is situated to the east of Rowan Lane. The Corsham Quarrying Co. started quarrying Bath stone here in 1890 making the total area 138,000 sq ft. Quarrying stopped in 1912 and Yockney and Hartham Park Ltd. quarried into it from the north. The slope shaft was used for bringing building materials into Spring Quarry during the second world war and was then used as an emergency exit from Spring Quarry when it was a BAC shadow factory and during later military use as RNSD Spring Quarry.
