The Corsham Quarries lie to the east of the Box Quarries and partially interconnect via Spring and Tunnel Quarries.
Corsham Down stone is fine grained, even textured, sound and strong and carries a sharp arris. It is suitable for outside work and is admirably adapted for the buildings of seaside residences.
Stones up to 12 ft long can be obtained here – Corngrit lies in the lower beds and is a good weight-bearing stone adapted for inside columns, staircases, steps, landings etc.
